original WWII Finnish improvised fragmentation hand grenade, manufactured using the body of a captured Soviet 50mm mortar projectile.

During the Winter/Continuation War period, Finland captured large quantities of Soviet equipment and ammunition. Examples are known in which Soviet 50mm HE mortar projectile bodies were repurposed into hand grenades, making these an unusual and scarce variation of WWII ordnance.

This example retains its original steel mortar body along with the hand-grenade-style fuze assembly, safety pin/ring and lever. The lever is clearly marked “137” with additional visible markings.

The body remains in excellent relic/display condition with considerable age, oxidation and traces of old finish. The markings on the lever remain quite legible.

Completely inert and sold strictly as a historical collectible/display piece.
